MISSION: 
Health Initiatives Mission (HIM) strives to guard African children against female genital mutilation (FGM), give aid and comfort to victims of FGM, protect children from Malaria, and provide clean water. HIM accomplishes these goals through education, medical trips, and partnerships with like-minded individuals and organizations.

WOMEN'S HEALTH (FGM)​
  • Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is a crude practice that degrades women.
  • FGM is practiced by the Pokot Tribe of Kenya
  • The Pokot tribe still practice arranged marriages where young girls are married off to older men without their consents.
  • Women end up having uncontrolled leaking of urine and feces as a result of medical complications associated with FGM during child-birth
  • These women become ostracized and end up living a life of isolation and hopelessness.
  • HIM wants to give hope to these “cursed” women……. (read more)
CHILDREN'S HEALTH​
  • Malaria kills more people in Africa than HIV/AIDS
  • One child dies from malaria every minute (majority of this happening in Africa).
  • 1 in 3 children in Pokot community live to see their 5th Birthday.
  • Malaria causes anemia in pregnant women resulting in stillbirths and low birth weights.
  • Partner with us on our efforts to give Pokot children a healthy start to life…. (read more)
WATER & HYGIENE​
  • Fetching water is a task done by women only in Pokot community.
  • Pokot women walk over 20miles both ways looking for water.
  • Hand dug water holes on river beds are a common source of contaminated water.
  • Contaminated water causes water related illnesses in Pokot children leading to high mortality rate among infants and children.
  • Drilled water wells with hand pumps are the solution…. (read more)
